Mozambique: At least seven killed by insurgent attacks in Cabo Delgado

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique in the country’s capital says they will implement a tighter regime for foreigners entering the country in the coming days, controlling the length of time they stay and monitoring their activities more closely.
Speaking at a meeting to publicize the decisions of the tenth police council last week, PRM commander in Maputo Bernardino Rafael said that the police in Maputo registered over 9,000 criminal cases in 2016, of which more than 1,700 involved foreigners.
Rafael said that the Civil Identification Directorate would create a database with telephone contacts of citizens requesting identity cards to expedite delivery of the documents. The Maputo City Civil Identification Bureau estimates that around 4,000 ID cards are waiting for collection at its branches.
