Moçambique Leaf Tobacco Limitada (MLT)
Mozambique Leaf Tobacco limited (MLT) has its headquarters in Tete, 117.000 family sector producers. The company produces 68.000 tons of Burley tobacco, Virginia and Dark Fire Cured.
The company has two areas of operations: Agronomy (provinces of Tete, Manica, Zambezia and Niassa) where they invested $12 million represented by various infrastructure, equipment and tobacco processing factory (in the city of Tete).
The plant represents an investment in the order of $55 million and processes tobacco for export to Europe, Asia and South America. The MLT is engaged in good Agricultural Practices and reforestation and employs roughly 7,000 workers, including seasonal and permanents.
The MLT also has a social responsibility program focused on the construction of schools, health centers, water holes, and community radios with TV, repair roads and bridges and programs on HIV/AIDS. In this program, the company invested more than $2 million.
