Mozambique: Venâncio Mondlane named a defendant in yet another post-election case - Watch
The Mozambican government will pay only half of the 13th salary to career officials, excluding holders of government and leadership positions, due to the limitation of funds, Economy and Finance Minister Adriano Maleiane said.
“The legislation in force, in particular Decree 62/2009, conditioned the payment of the 13th salary to the existence of availability,” said Maleiane, speaking at a press conference to announce the decision.
The 13th salary, a long-standing tradition in Mozambique and destined for the Christmas season, will be paid in part to career officials, and does not include holders of government and leadership positions, he said.
