Breaking: Maputo Penitentiary Directorate detained over murder suspect’s escape

Members of the administration board of the Provincial Penitentiary Establishment of Maputo [Machava] were detained yesterday afternoon over the escape of the main suspect in the murder of public prosecutor Marcelino Vilanculos.
The aforementioned individual escaped from prison on the night of 24 October from the penitentiary where he was awaiting trial.
The fugitive and two other conspirators are accused of qualified murder, possession of prohibited weapons and association to commit a crime under the 186/ PPM/2016 criminal suit conducted by the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Maputo.
Marcelino Vilanculos was shot dead on 11 April of the current year, outside his residence, in the municipality of Matola.
