The police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) on Monday captured a suspect in the murder of a Portuguese citizen last week in Maputo, a spokesman for the corporation said.
“There are strong indications of his involvement in the crime and police are now looking for two other individuals,” Orlando Mudumane, a PRM spokesman in Maputo city, told a news conference.
The 21-year-old suspect had been working with the victim for more than a year and police seized several items belonging to the businessman in his possession, including a mobile phone.
“We believe that there are moral authors,” said the PRM spokesman, without further advancing the causes of the crime, only stating that the operations continue.
According to police, the victim died suffocated and his body was found tied in a bathtub in his residence, in the outskirts of Maputo.
The Portuguese entrepreneur had lived in Mozambique for more than eight years.
