The Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama rejects allegations that his party receives foreign support, and reiterated that it is preparing to take power in six provinces from March where he claims the 2014 election was fraudulent.
Afonso Dhlakama, who has not been seen in public since the police siege on his Beira home on October 9 was speaking from Gorongosa, where he has allegedly taken refuge.
Quoted by the news agency Lusa, Dhlakama said, “We have absolutely nothing from abroad. Our survival has depended solely on our own efforts, our contributors, our businesses, our members and supporters,”
According to the opposition leader not even “fraternal parties” such as PSD (Portugal), or the PP (Spain), the Republicans (United States), or the British Conservatives, have provided any support.
