A university teacher has allegedly been earning extra money by swindling young people with false promises of employment.
According to Police General Command, the cases, which so far number 26, occurred in the province of Nampula, with the suspect bagging over 800,000 meticais (around US$16,000).
The university teacher, now detained, convinced his victims that he could use his position to get them better jobs for which they would pay him a certain amount of money.
In the same week, another man was arrested by police for taking 6,000 meticais from a citizen to have his passport expedited. When this did not happen, the victim filed a complaint, leading to the man’s arrest.
