The Mozambique Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that it plans to register 170,000 young people aged 16 in 2016 for obligatory military service (SMO), while pointing out that only a small percentage of that number will actually be drafted.
At a press conference on Wednesday in Maputo, the national director of Human Resources at the Ministry of National Defence, Edgar Cossa, said that registration for the SMO will take place between January 6 and February 28 and will be conducted by about two thousand mobile and fixed units across the country.
