Major General Emmy K. Ruvusha, the Joint Task Force Commander of the Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) in Mozambique, concluded his one-year tour of duty in Cabo Delgado Province, on Friday, 10 October. He officially handed over command responsibilities to Major General Vincent Gatama.
The handover ceremony took place at the RSF Headquarters in Mocímboa da Praia, Cabo Delgado Province. It was attended by both the incoming and outgoing commanders, along with their respective staff members.
During the ceremony, both commanders expressed their appreciation to the outgoing contingent for their dedication and impactful achievements over the past year.
Over the course of their deployment, the outgoing contingent made significant progress in counter-terrorism operations, successfully liberating several areas previously under terrorist control. Their efforts contributed to the safe return of a large number of internally displaced persons to their homes.
In addition, the contingent trained the first intake of FADM (Mozambique Armed Defence Forces) soldiers in an advanced infantry course, strengthened cooperation with Mozambique’s defence and security forces, and helped build trust with local communities.
