Rehabilitation works on 117 kilometres of the Matambo -Songo road, or National Highway 301 (N301,) in Tete province is experiencing slight delays due to the absence of a quarry operating license and the prioritization of the completion of the Maroeira-Chitima road.
The first stretch, corresponding to the 50-km Matambo-Marara section, is affected by the lack of a license, still in the process of being processed, without which asphalt cannot be produced.
The second stretch, Marara-Maroeira (67 km), is experiencing slow progress because the contractor has focused its efforts on completing the Maroeira-Chitima road, which opened last June.
The status update was confirmed in Maroeira by the director of central project and construction services at the National Roads Administration (ANE), Belmiro Rodolfo, who recently visited the site.
Despite the setbacks, Rodolfo expressed satisfaction, considering the delay recoverable, since the two sections are scheduled for completion in December, 2025 (the second stretch), and in January, 2026 (the first stretch).
