Unidentified individuals are vandalizing the former main shopping centre in the city of Chibuto, Gaza.
According to Ricardo Manganhe, spokesperson for Chibuto Municipal Council, the perpetrators have been removing [stealing] zinc sheets, doors, windows, electrical equipment, sanitary ware, lampposts and other items. The situation is aggravated by the lack of security guards at the site.
Chibuto Shopping Centre, which also housed a hotel, was vandalized during the post-election protests and subsequently closed.
More than 50 workers were left without formal jobs by the shutdown of activities at the two establishments in January, after the latest riots.
