Mozambique: President asks businesses to invest in arts and culture

Renowned Mozambican saxophonist, composer, producer and arranger Moreira Chonguiça proudly announced on Friday the release of his dynamic new single, “Dá Ou Não Dá”, featuring legendary Pandza artist Mr Kuka.
Originally composed by Mr Kuka, this powerful collaboration fuses traditional Mozambican urban sounds with sophisticated jazz arrangements, bringing together two of the country’s most distinctive musical voices.
Deeply rooted in Mozambican cultural heritage, “Dá Ou Não Dá” fuses the infectious rhythms of Pandza with the unmistakable touch of arranger and multi-award-winning producer Moreira Chonguiça, creating a song that is globally appealing.
“It was a huge honour to work with Mr Kuka,” Chonguiça says. “His creativity and dedication to Mozambican music are truly inspiring. This release is a celebration of our roots and a gift to future generations.”
Rogério Dinis Eduardo Cuco, widely known as Mr Kuka, is a pioneering force in Mozambican music, redefining Pandza by fusing it with contemporary sounds to create a modern national trend. His hits include “Tá Duvidar”, “Xitlakula Guinha”, “Eu Também” and “Brega Chique”, the latter earning him multiple awards at the Mozambique Music Awards (MMA).
Moreira Chonguiça is among Africa’s greatest jazz artists, acclaimed for his brilliant technique, visionary compositions, and dedication to promoting Mozambican culture worldwide. He has released seven highly acclaimed albums, each celebrated for its innovation and authenticity, continuing to redefine jazz from an African perspective.
