Millennium bim joins the “Mozambique 50 Years of Independence” exhibition, on display at the Camões Gallery – Portuguese Cultural Center, in Maputo.
Curated by António Sopa, the “Mozambique 50 Years of Independence” exhibition at the Camões Gallery documents the country’s profound transformations since 1975, inviting reflection on identity, memory, and the future, and affirming culture as a pillar of belonging, dialogue, and social change.
The images on display portray Mozambique’s social transformations over five decades of independence. More than just visual records, they encourage a critical, inclusive, and intergenerational reading of our collective history.
“In these fifty years of independence, Millennium bim has walked side by side with Mozambique for three decades, with a firm commitment to supporting culture, social development, and the affirmation of our people’s identity,” said Moisés Jorge, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Millennium bim, at the inauguration.
“This exhibition symbolizes this shared journey. We believe that culture has the power to unite, inspire, and transform. With this partnership with Camões – Portuguese Cultural Center, we renew our commitment to supporting initiatives that connect the past with the future, contributing to a more inclusive society.”
“When the private sector joins forces with culture, more than just events are created; lasting bridges are built between communities, generations, and countries,” said José Amara Lopes, Director of the Camoes – Portuguese Cultural Center. “This collaboration with Millennium bim is proof of this.”
This exhibition, part of Millennium bim’s social responsibility program “More Mozambique for Me”, takes on special significance in the year Mozambique celebrates 50 years of independence and Millennium bim marks three decades of activity in the country.
It is also the starting point for a new collaboration between Millennium bim and Camões – Portuguese Cultural Centre. This recently established partnership aims to promote Mozambican and Lusophone cultural diversity, support artistic creation, enhance heritage, and advance projects with real social impact.
