Dugongo Mozambique among selected bidders for CIF Angola cement plant

The Minister of Economy, Basílio Muhate, who headed the Mozambican delegation to the 17th US-Africa Business Summit, representing the President of the Republic, Daniel Francisco Chapo, held a working meeting with the head of the US government delegation, Troy Fitrell, director of the Secretariat for African Affairs at the State Department.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the summit, diplomatic and trade relations between Mozambique and the US were discussed, with a focus on the tariffs recently applied by Washington and the implementation of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
Troy Fitrell reiterated the US commitment to maintaining and strengthening bilateral relations, highlighting Mozambique’s economic progress and its potential to attract foreign investment. He also stressed the importance of deepening business partnerships between the two countries.
In turn, Minister Basílio Muhate highlighted the role of North American investment in the megaprojects underway in northern Mozambique and reinforced the call for North American businesspeople to invest in the country, taking advantage of emerging opportunities in strategic sectors of the national economy.
