Following the Global Task Force on Cholera Control (GTFCC) Steering Committee meeting held on 20 May 2025, we are pleased to announce that Dr Ilesh Jani, from Mozambique, has formally accepted the role of Chair of the GTFCC Steering Committee, reads a GTFCC press release issued on Monday.
Dr Jani brings extensive experience in cholera control, public health, and infectious disease management, as well as a strong commitment to international cooperation. His country-level perspective will be a significant asset as we work to accelerate progress in the final five years of the Global Roadmap to 2030.
This leadership transition comes at a critical time, as the GTFCC and its partners intensify efforts to address the worsening global cholera situation and ensure that no vulnerable population is left behind. Dr Jani’s guidance will be key in helping us navigate the complex challenges ahead and strengthen our collective impact.
We extend a warm welcome and sincere thanks to Dr Jani for taking on this important role, the GTFCC concludes.
