The province of Niassa is struggling with a shortage of gasoline at fuel stations, a situation that is encouraging opportunism and price speculation on the parallel market.
A survey conducted by Rádio Moçambique in Lichinga this Tuesday found that only two of the city’s sixteen gas stations had gasoline available.
Interviewees also revealed that a litre of gasoline can cost between 140 and 200 meticais on the parallel market, compared to the official price of 92.84 cents charged at the gas stations.
