Mozambique Airlines (LAM) has hired an Abu Dhabi based consultancy company, Knighthood Global, to advise on restructuring the financial base of LAM, and to provide strategic support on assessing, selecting and supplying aircraft adequate to the operational needs of the company.
Knighthood Global should also implement information technology systems, key performance indicators and mechanisms for engaging with interested parties.
Knighthood Global was hired by the new shareholders in LAM, namely Hidroelectrica de Cahora Bassa, which operates the Cahora Bassa dam on the Zambezi River, the publicly owned port and rail company CFM, and the insurance company Emose.

Mozambique: Knighthood Global’s focus in first three months will be to stabilise LAM
Among its tasks, Knighthood Global will support the “resizing” of the LAM workforce to ensure greater efficiency and increased labour productivity “with an impact on the quality of the services provided and on the company’s results”. This is certainly a euphemism for large scale redundancies, since LAM is known to be grossly overmanned.
Knighthood Global, the release adds, will “promote sessions of dialogue and interaction with workers and managers of LAM, in order to deepen knowledge about the company’s operational procedures and collect contributions and suggestions for improving its performance”.
This initiative, LAM release says, “is essential to ensure the active involvement of the workers in the company’s transformation and for the construction of realistic, participatory and sustainable solutions”.
The release describes Knighthood Global as a consultancy company “headed by professionals of recognised merit, led by James Hogan, the former chairperson and CEO of the Etihad Airways Group”.
Knighthood Global, it continues, “has decades of multinational experience on all continents, with “solid global expertise in aviation, travel and hospitality”.
