Mozambique N’txuva meets Donato at Mafalala Museum exhibition

The launch of EBAS Maputo, Maputo’s Sustainable Art Meeting Bienal, chaired by the City Councillor for Culture, Osvaldo Faquir, took place on Tuesday at a press conference in Maputo city council hall.
EBAS Maputo is a competition-style meeting, open to all artists from across the country, for the presentation of original works made from recycled waste.
Any artist can register by email or request information from: [email protected] and will receive the competition rules.
The works entered into the competition must arrive at the Maputo City Council by 20 June and the opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 27 June 2025, as part of the celebrations of Mozambique’s 50th anniversary of independence.
Prizes
The prizes offered are 80,000.00 meticais for 1st place, 50,000.00 meticais for 2nd place and 30,000.00 meticais for 3rd place.
The voting will be carried out by a jury, but this represents only 50% of the final result, with the remaining 50% going to all visitors to the exhibition, who will be able to vote for a single work.
After the closing and award ceremony of EBAS Maputo, the exhibition will be on display in several locations, including the Mozambique Environmental Interpretation Centre, shopping centres, hotels, Mozambique Fashion Week, among other locations.
The entire digital marketing strategy will be handled by Ddb Mozambique.
On Tuesday, 13 May, the Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) launched the first edition of the Biennial Sustainable Art Meeting EBAS Maputo a competition aimed at raising awareness among residents about solid waste management.
The Biennial Sustainable Art Meeting will initially take place cyclically over a 2-year period, and this is the first edition, with the expectation of the emergence of new national artists.
On the occasion, the Councillor for Education, Culture and Sports, Osvaldo Faquir, said it was important and necessary for artists to use their talent, looking at solid waste as a raw material that can be used to preserve the environment within society.
In turn, environmentalist Rui Silva, promoter of the initiative, said that the competition would facilitate the discovery of new talent in the arts.
