The Mozal Arts and Culture Awards 2025 are now open.

If you are a young artist, of Mozambican nationality, residing in the national territory or abroad, you can compete with the works you have produced in the last 18 months.

There is 120,000 meticais in prize money for each category.

The Mozal Arts and Culture Awards 2025 are now open, and if you are a young Mozambican artist in one of the seven categories covered by the project – Visual Arts, Photography, Cinema and Audiovisuals, Theatre, Dance, Fashion and Clothing Design and Music – you now have the opportunity to apply with the work you have done in the last 18 months, to be evaluated by a jury of renowned personalities in each area. You have the chance to be selected as a nominee, among the best, or even to be the winner of your category, receiving a prize of 120,000.00 Mts.

To apply, you must follow the next steps:

1. On the Kulungwana webpage you are on (PMAC 2025 EDITION) you will find all this information.

2. Next, you must access the REGULATIONS and you will be able to download the General Regulations of the Competition and the Specific Regulations of your Category. Read them carefully. When submitting your application, you must always take into account the rules of both documents.

3. Go to the APPLICATIONS link where you can download the PDF of the Form for your Category. This way, you can also find out in advance all the questions you will have to answer and the documents you need to gather to send.

4. Go to the TUTORIALS link where you can access slideshow presentations, tutorials, which explain the essentials of how to proceed to register the audio, video or image documents to be sent.

5. Specific situations:

5.1 If you are in one of the performance categories, there are specific issues related to copyright of the works submitted, so if you are competing as a performer (actor in a show or film staged or directed by someone else, singer of songs composed by others, dancer in a show with choreography by someone else, costume designer for shows directed by someone else) you must submit a Declaration of Authorization for your application, from the person most responsible for the work, validated by their signature.

5.2 If you are part of a collective, the group must always identify a person most responsible, on whose behalf the application will be processed and who will always be the team representative, taking responsibility for all activities assigned to the winners – visibility in the media, participation in the winning video, etc..

6. Once you have everything ready to fill out, think about how you will provide the largest files – image, video, audio. There are two different ways to use the forms: you can upload the file or you can put your files on a drive and send us the link. But if you send the link, don’t forget that you have to open the files to all people with the link, such as readers, otherwise we will have problems opening them.

7. If you have any other questions or problems, Kulungwana will always be happy to answer them, as long as it is not on the last day of the deadline for closing applications. You will have 49 days to send us your candidate project. Start following our instructions now, gather your various questions and send them to [email protected] with your contact details and we will get back to you with solutions and answers.

8. On 28 May, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., Kulungwana will also be hosting a live broadcast to answer any questions and, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., a virtual workshop on how to prepare an artistic portfolio, which will help your application to be of better quality and prepare you to compete in any competition or funding in these areas.

9. If we receive two or more applications from the same author with the same project title, we will assume that the application is duplicated and will only consider one of them, the last entry, so be careful not to send more than one with different data.

10. All artists from all provinces are more than welcome, we want to see talent from all over the country.
