Yesterday, the government approved a resolution establishing the timber harvesting quota for the current year of 2025.
A note issued at the end of the 16th session of the Council of Ministers, which took place in the city of Chimoio, Manica province, reveals that the authorized volume will be 485,936 cubic metres, a slight increase on the 485,436 cubic metres authorized in 2024, which reinforces the sustainable management of forest resources.
The resolution also includes the Nantchasse species, recently classified as precious wood.
“The measure aims to ensure a more balanced exploitation of the species, reinforces the surveillance of natural resources, protecting the ecosystem and guaranteeing economic benefits for the country,” the document specifies.
