South Africa’s import of natural gas from Mozambique halts in 2026 - Watch

The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, will lead the opening ceremony of the 11th Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference (MMEC), in Maputo this Wednesday.
This year’s event will be held under the theme “Investing in a New Era: Transforming Mozambique’s Natural Resources to Spur Industrialisation and Regional Integration”.
The Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference (MMEC)is holding its 11th edition from 7-8 May 2025 at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre in Maputo.
As the country’s longest-running mining and energy industry event, MMEC is the premier business platform for local, regional, and international stakeholders, including government officials and senior representatives from the extractive and power generation industries.
A press release from the Presidency of the Republic received by Rádio Moçambique indicates that this year’s edition will serve to reflect on the importance of Mozambique as a strategic center for investment and development of the energy and mining industry in Africa and the world.
