Hollard Mozambique announced the winners of the Hollard Better Future Awards 2025 at the official opening of the 15th Colecção Crescente Exhibition last week, an initiative of Kulungwana – Associação para o Desenvolvimento Cultural.
At the heart of this initiative are the Hollard Better Future awards, an annual award that recognizes the best work by the country’s most promising young creatives. This year, around 100 emerging artists participated, with more than 300 works in the selection.
From this talented group, three artists were selected as winners: Zerito Sabão, Medgiss Mutombene and Carmen Maria Muianga.
In addition to these, two artists, Pinto Zulu and Yassmin Santos Forte, received Honorable Mentions.
During the ceremony, Hollard Mozambique shared the following message to the nominees: “Your dedication, originality and artistic vision are not only inspiring, they are essential to Mozambique’s cultural narrative. You are helping to redefine how we see ourselves, how we express our truths and how we imagine the path ahead.”
Certificates of recognition were also presented to the ten nominated artists by Jéssica Figueiredo, Brand Ambassador and coordinator of the inaugural Colecção Crescente at Hollard Mozambique, the event’s Patron entity for the seventh consecutive year.
Presented under the evocative theme “Time”, the 15th Colecção Crescente Exhibition, officially open to the public, offers both artists and the public a reflection on the dynamic relationship between past, present and future, showcasing bold and thought-provoking interpretations of time that are deeply rooted in Mozambican identity and expression.
Echoing its motto, “Visions of Tomorrow,” the exhibition underscores Hollard’s belief in imagination as a powerful tool for envisioning and creating a brighter, more inclusive future, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to supporting Mozambique’s arts and culture, and fostering the next generation of thinkers, innovators and visual storytellers.

The winners were selected by a distinguished panel of local and international judges based on defined criteria.
The jury comprised Professor Alda Costa, Dana McFarlane of White River Gallery, and Curator Mieke Oldenburg. Each judge nominated ten artists, followed by a group deliberation to determine the final winners.
The Hollard Better Future Awards, a prestigious platform established in 2019 that recognizes exceptional artistic talent and provides opportunities for professional growth has supported thousands of aspiring artists, and has, to date, honoured 12 young artists with the top prize.
