The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, begins a working visit to the province of Tete today, where he will remain until Thursday. In addition to the provincial capital, he is expected to visit the districts of Moatize, Angónia and Mutarara.
Today, President Chapo will hold a public rally in Moatize, as well as chair an extraordinary session of the Provincial Executive Council (CEP), extended to the Council of State Representation Services (CSRE), district administrators and presidents of local councils.
Tomorrow he will visit the plateau district of Angónia, where he will visit the family of King Zintambira V, leader of the Nguni people in Mozambique, before leading a public rally.
Daniel Chapo will hold meetings with local government bodies in the city of Tete, as well as separate meetings in Moatize with young people, government officials and agents, and economic agents in the provincial capital.
On the last day, Chapo will stop in Mutarara, where a popular rally is scheduled.
The points where the head of state will hold rallies are districts where post-election demonstrations have been most prevalent in this part of the country.
During the election campaign, Daniel Chapo promised that he would lower the cost of energy in this province, as it is here where most of this resource is produced for the country.
He also promised to build a large secondary school, and return to the “provincial coffers” a large part of the amount collected in taxes from companies exploiting mineral resources in the province, so as to accelerate local development.
