The Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe, told members of the Assembly of the Republic today that with adequate investment and a firm restructuring, Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) could achieve operational and financial stability within three years.
However, according to Minister Matlombe, the success of this plan depends on a commitment from everyone, “and not just the government”, and it is essential “that everyone who uses our company’s services honours the payment of their tickets”.
According toJoão Matlombe, “the recurring practice of travelling without due financial compensation [paying] weakens LAM’s sustainability and jeopardises the restructuring efforts underway”.
He stressed that different results cannot be expected by maintaining past practices. “There are no miracles: the recovery of our flagship company depends on commitment and collective responsibility”, he concluded.
