Mozambique: Municipality to spend more than 17 mln meticais building 3 public toilets in Maputo

The government on Tuesday approved the resolution dismissing Eliza Zacarias from the position of President of the Tax Authority (AT) and also approved the resolution appointing Aníbal Joaquim Mbalango to the position, Council of Ministers spokesperson Inocêncio Impissa announced.
“The appointee [Aníbal Mbalango] is an employee of the Tax Authority of Mozambique, with 20 years of service, 14 of which working in the extractive sector taxation sector. He headed the Task Force for the taxation of capital gains, but was also Deputy Director-General of the Office of Planning Studies, International Cooperation, responsible for the areas of revenue, tax policy and studies. Therefore, we have a team of in-house staff, who have grown and are prepared to help with the challenges of raising more revenue,” said the spokesperson.
Elisa Zacarias was Secretary of State for Tete province and took over as president of AT in August, 2024. Zacarias joined the Tax Authority replacing Amélia Muendane, who now leads Mozambique Airports.
