Inhambane province plans to issue around 9,000 Land Use and Benefit Rights (DUAT) titles to 12 communities this year as part of Provincial Land and Environment Service’s “Terra Segura” (Secure Land) program for granting enduring land tenure in communities.
The delimitation of spaces covers communities in the districts of Homoíne, Jangamo, Inharrime, Zavala, Morrumbene, Massinga, Panda, Funhalouro, Mabote, Inhassoro and Govuro.
Director of Provincial Land and Environment Service in Inhambane, Tiago Marion, congratulates the population who, on their own initiative, are requesting the legalization of their land plots.
“Inhambane is unique because people have realized the importance of legalizing their land, which is why there has been so much support for this and other similar initiatives,” he said.
“We congratulate the communities for their collaboration in delimiting land for housing and economic activities,” he said.
He stressed the simplicity that characterizes this work, since, in addition to legalization, the authorities are committed to disseminating legislation regarding the acquisition of DUATs.
“In recent years, the government has been developing several initiatives to regularize land held by communities. As we find ways to regularize, even if they are institutional initiatives, we reach everyone,” he added.
Marion pledges that the resettlement of communities to implement projects is being carried out within the law.
“We have a committee that monitors this process. Its creation aims to prevent gender initiatives from causing problems in the future. That is why a committee was created, to monitor resettlement in all districts,” he stressed.
