The prestigious Polana Serena Hotel will on Thursday, April 10, host the official launch of Women in Local Procure (WiLP) — a ground-breaking initiative that aims to transform the role of women in procurement and local supply chains across Mozambique.
Created by the Association for the Support of Women in Local Entrepreneurship and led by local content and procurement expert Cristiana Paco Langa, WiLP is the first national program exclusively focused on training, certifying, and integrating women into the formal procurement processes of major economic sectors, including energy, construction, logistics, and corporate services.
A high-impact initiative
WiLP addresses the historic exclusion of Mozambican women from procurement systems, despite their active roles in local production and informal supply. The initiative seeks to build an ecosystem where women entrepreneurs are visible, valued, and contracted as formal suppliers.
The launch event will bring together national and international leaders, with confirmed participation from organizations such as UN Women, the Mozambique Energy Chamber, Coral FLNG, Vivo Energy, Cosini, and Vodacom, alongside private sector companies, public institutions, donors, and civil society.
Confirmed speakers:
Dr. Marie Laetitia Kayisire (UN Women)
Doroteia Chipande (Mozambique Energy Chamber)
Jocelyne Machevo (Oil & Gas Expert)
Stela Jaqueta (Coral FLNG)
Silvia Ferreira (Cosini)
Kalinca Macuácua (Vodacom)
