The population of the Napipine neighbourhood in Santa Maria on the outskirts of Nampula city, woke up to an uproar on Tuesday (April 1), due to the presence of an individual, apparently 50 years old and naked, in one of the local houses, who had supposedly fallen from his night flight, Journal Ikweli reports today.
Members of the family of the house where the incident occurred were concerned about the situation, as the flying citizen, who coincidentally lives in the same block, had never before shown any questionable behaviour.
Malaquias Armando, the owner of the home, says that the citizen crashed in the dead of night, along with a sieve, sowing doubts on Armando’s s part about the individuals’ real intention.
“What happened is hard to explain, because at 1:00 a.m. I started hearing noises on top of the house. Hours later he slid down, destroying my porch, so I woke up my wife to show her what happened outside, because the man was naked, which made me think he was a thief. He didn’t move, so later I called some neighbours from the closest houses so we could investigate the situation, and we tried to figure out, if he didn’t come in through the door, but since he came from above, we tried to find out what means he had used to land on top of my house, and he’s not explaining it,” Armando relates.
José Samuel, the alleged sorcerer (aka magic-naked-pilot), said he doesn’t know what happened to him, because he suddenly woke up in that house without understanding the real reason, suspecting that it was something done at work or by his family members who don’t like him.
“What I know is that I was in a bad mood and I fell into this house and the owner spoke to me, he tried to find out how I was and how I got into this yard with the door closed and I said I couldn’t explain it, so we stayed here until the time that this human frame came here, and when it got light the first person to arrive here was the neighbourhood secretary who assured me that he knew me, that’s why we’re here,” Samuel explained.
António Cornélio, secretary of Block 7 in the Francisco Manyanga communal unit, said as a community leader that he was informed about the situation at dawn and didn’t understand what the man’s motivation was, considering that this neighbourhood is a scene of frequent night planes.
“I came, I caught this man without clothes and asked where he was and where is he leaving from at this time? He said that I fell, I’m leaving the shack where I was drinking and I asked what time? So we went to get the community police, I was really scared because he was a known person, I really didn’t expect it,” Cornelio said.
Meanwhile, healer Ali Hassane, better known as Dr Fogo, explained that the man (the magic-naked-pilot) is a witch doctor, and he (Hassane) understands that he collapsed moments after intensive treatment at his (Hassane’s) house.
“I was the one who treated this house, because the owners complained about many witch doctors who were persecuting them. I started working a long time ago, I do all kinds of traditional work, so this man will not leave here without paying for the treatment worth 10,000.00 meticais, because I need to treat him before he leaves so that the worst does not happen. So I use this means to appeal to other people, and not to get people used to it, even if he is a young man, because he could end up in trouble,” the healer explained.
According to Ikweli, the population demonstrated noisily outside the yard, so as to give the supposed witch doctor an “official greeting”, which in turn gave the owner of the house grounds for fear and concern.
