This is the second person from the same family being kidnapped in less than 10 days. Issufo Mohamed was approached by six heavily armed individuals.
The kidnapping happened around 19h in Avenue Romao Fernandes Farinha, near the intersection with Avenue Zedequias Manganhela, in downtown Maputo city.
The victim had just come out of his shop, located on Avenue Filipe Samuel Magaia when his car was intercepted by two vehicles carrying heavily armed men with pistols and AK-47. At the time, the businessman was dragged from his car and taken to unknown whereabouts, according to a witness who requested anonymity for fear of reprisals.
Another witness said that all happened very fast and it was not even possible to see the references of the car much less the faces of the criminals who were reportedly hooded.
Contacted, the police acknowledged the occurrence of the crime and promised to decide in due course.
Issufo’s brother was also kidnapped on Avenue Zedequias Manganhela, on the sixth of this month, when he was leaving his shop.
