Mozambique: Liberation struggle stalwart João dos Santos Ferreira dies

Former Minister of Agriculture and veteran of the national liberation struggle João dos Santos Ferreira died yesterday at the Heart Institute in Maputo, after an illness.
Ferreira was a member of the National Committee of the Association of Combatants of the National Liberation Struggle (ACLLN) and secretary for the Organization Area at the headquarters of the national committee of this association.
He held other important positions in government, for example as Secretary of State for Cotton in 1979 and Minister of Agriculture from 1983 to 1988.
He was a deputy in the national parliament for 20 years.
