A group of Islamist terrorists on Monday invaded the Muaguide administrative post, Meluco district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, where they murdered one person and burned down houses.
According to sources cited by the independent newsheet “Carta de Moçambique”, the attack took place in Iba village, when the residents, who depend on agriculture, were preparing to go to their fields.
“They killed one person in Iba and captured a woman in the fields of Muaguide. In Iba, they entered in the morning, at eight o’clock. It’s a scene of war in the whole area. But the woman was later released by the terrorists”, a source said.
The terrorists also burnt down more than 50 huts and stole goods, especially foodstuffs.
Some sources regretted the weak intervention of both Mozambican and Rwandan forces, which have been operating in the region.
About a month ago, a terrorist group also carried out violent acts that resulted in deaths and the looting of property from the residents of Ravia locality, Meluco district.
