Minister Roberto Albino and the Country Chair and Managing Director of TotalEnergies, Maxime Rabilloud, met last Thursday (13-03), at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries, with agriculture, fisheries, biofuels, conservation and the environment among the points on the agenda.
TotalEnergies presented the actions it has been carrying out in Cabo Delgado in light of the above components, having expressed its openness to obtaining subsidies from the sector in order to further strengthen its intervention. The ministry presented its strategic vision on the topics and welcomed the multinational’s interest. In the coming days, technical teams will work together to deepen and consolidate the issues.
According to Notícias, TotalEnergies will continue to support the development of agriculture in the country, especially in the province of Cabo Delgado, where its main hydrocarbon exploration activity is based, citing Rabilloud as saying that TotalEnergies is available to receive contributions from various players in the sector in order to strengthen its intervention. In this sense, Rabilloud stressed, the government’s vision is key to ensure better alignment of the initiatives underway.
As a result, it was agreed that in the coming days joint technical teams would be formed to deepen and consolidate the various approaches on the topics discussed at the meeting.
TotalEnergies authors several social responsibility initiatives in Cabo Delgado with the aim of boosting development and improving the living conditions of local communities.
Among the company’s main initiatives is the Pamoja Tunaweza foundation (“Together we can”, in Kiswahili), established in May 2023.

In February, TotalEnergies made US$3 million available for the economic recovery of the communities affected by terrorism in Palma and Mocímboa da Praia. This support aims to help small traders, fishermen and other economic agents rebuild their livelihoods, boosting the local economy and improving the living conditions of families returning home.
