Mozambique: Frelimo salutes OMM on its 52nd anniversary

Frelimo urges Mozambican women to continue to play an active role in promoting national unity, consolidating peace and strengthening social cohesion.

The message comes on the occasion of March 16, which yesterday marked the 52nd anniversary of the creation of the Mozambican Women’s Organization (OMM), which played a fundamental role in supporting the Popular Forces for the Liberation of Mozambique (FPLM), providing educational and social services that strengthened resistance and accelerated the achievement of sovereignty.

In a press release, the party emphasizes the importance of women’s participation in the different fronts of development, inviting them to make efforts and dedication to overcome current challenges, with a focus on national stabilization.

“The development of Mozambique depends on the commitment of each citizen, and Mozambican women, with their strength and dedication, have an irreplaceable role in this journey and, therefore, Frelimo believes that the participation of all in the inclusive national dialogue will be fundamental to the success of this process”, it reads.

The note adds that, over the years, the OMM has consolidated itself as a symbol of patriotism and the raising of civic awareness, promoting the emancipation and empowerment of Mozambican women.

It also highlights that the work of this organization has been decisive in the valorization of women, guaranteeing dignity, active participation and equal opportunities. It also points out that the history of the OMM is that of the Mozambican woman and that she constitutes the driving force of the family, the basis of solidarity, the pillar of education and the transmission of essential values for the development of Mozambique.
