The Minister of Health, Ussene Isse, announced today the creation of a team to investigate allegations of mistreatment of patients and theft of newborns at the Matola Provincial Hospital and throughout the country.
Isse was speaking at the end of his working visit today to that reference unit in Maputo province, having expressed satisfaction with the level of hygiene, cleanliness and organization.
The governor said he had traveled to Matola to monitor and verify the veracity of the population’s complaints, accompanied by the Inspector General of Health, who from today with his team will work on the investigation, verification and accountability of those responsible for poor care, disappearance of babies and other complaints that should be given due value.
“We have to understand and respect complaints and reports through the team already created in coordination with the provincial management, to monitor and obtain evidence for decision-making,” he assured.
In maternity services, the minister recommended that the values of the sector be restored to humanize the services, whereby the woman giving birth must have a suitable family companion for each birth process in the maternity ward, in all health units in the country.
The minister stressed that he is very cautious when verifying complaints and reports that “reach us reporting poor service and missing babies,” he said.
He appealed to all users to use the platform to report and suggest actions to the management of the Matola Provincial Hospital.
