Mozambique: LAM cancels recruitment tender for 18 managers

The Minister of Economy, Basílio Muhate, yesterday met representatives of the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA) to discuss the impacts of the recent demonstrations and associated acts of vandalism against industrial and commercial establishments in the country.
The meeting aimed to assess the current situation and outline effective measures to mitigate the damage caused by these incidents and ensure the safety of the private sector.
During the meeting, the Minister and the CTA representatives discussed the economic consequences of these demonstrations, which seriously affected the business environment, resulting in significant losses for several companies and, consequently, for the national economy.
The minister reinforced the need for a joint effort between the government and the private sector to face the challenges posed by these actions and restore investor confidence.
The following points were discussed during the meeting.
On this point, the government committed to strengthening security measures, with a special focus on vulnerable areas, ensuring that companies can operate without fear of new episodes of violence.
Joint strategies were outlined for the recovery of affected companies, with measures that include the recovery of damaged infrastructure.
On this point, the minister gave assurances that the government would continue to maintain open channels of communication with the CTA and other business entities, in order to create a safer and more stable business environment.
In addition to immediate actions, long-term strategies were discussed to prevent future violent demonstrations, with a focus on ongoing dialogue between the Government, the private sector and civil society.
The Minister of Economy reiterated that the government is fully committed to ensuring the protection of investors’ rights and strengthening the national economy. He also highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation to overcome this challenging time and restore confidence in the markets.
The CTA, in turn, expressed its commitment to working with the government to find solutions that guarantee the rapid and efficient recovery of the affected companies and the safety of the productive sector.
The meeting was marked by an atmosphere of collaboration and optimism, with both sides reaffirming the importance of working together to ensure a safe business environment conducive to sustainable economic development.
