Mozambique: Frelimo Central Committee meets on Friday, handover expected – report

Frelimo Central Committee communication secretary Ludmila Maguni says that everything is ready for the Third Extraordinary Session of the party’s Central Committee (CC) to be held this Friday, which will serve as the handover from Filipe Nyusi to Daniel Chapo, as leader of the Frelimo party.
The Frelimo Political Commission, which met recently in its XXXIX (thirty-ninth) Ordinary Session, decided to convene a third extraordinary session, to be held this Friday at the party’s Central School in the city of Matola, Maputo province.
This event will be used to elect the party’s president, the secretary-general and the members of the Central Committee Secretariat. Frelimo spokesperson Ludmila Maguni previews that Daniel Chapo is the only candidate for the party presidency and that no names have yet been put forward for the position of secretary-general and members of the CC Secretariat, and may be announced on the day of the session itself.
