On Tuesday (04), during the third Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers, the Government approved the Action Plan for the First 100 Days of Governance, which presents the main interventions of the Executive, to be carried out in the first three months of governance of the 2025-29 five-year period, with a direct impact on the well-being of the population.
The Minister of State Administration and Civil Service and spokesperson for yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, Inocêncio Impissa, highlighted the focus of the Plan on the areas of social and political stability; education; health; combating corruption; employment and youth; infrastructure and public services; justice; agriculture and food security; economic growth and resource mobilization and management of natural resources.
Impissa did not however detail what was intended to be done in each area.
According to Impissa, the Council of Ministers, led by Daniel Chapo, in the same session assessed and approved the financing mechanisms to deal with the damage caused by cyclones Chido and Dikeledi, which affected the social and economic fabric, causing loss of life, suffering, and destruction of homes and agricultural fields, with a greater incidence in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula.
To deal with the damage caused by these cyclones, the spokesperson said that the Government has been implementing a financial protection plan through the allocation of the State Budget via contingency and annual transfers to the Disaster Management Fund and contracting Sovereign Insurance against natural disasters and support from partners.
“In this context, the Government is counting on the financing to deal with the damage caused by the disasters, having finalized and approved in this session the response plan amounting to eight billion meticais, which will constitute the basis for interventions in terms of assistance and rehabilitation of destroyed public infrastructures,” added the spokesperson.
Also in the same session, the Government assessed the information on the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 School Year and the current status of the distribution of school books, having noted that, of the 13 million books for the different classes and subjects, 12 million are already in the provinces and in the process of being distributed to the districts and schools spread throughout the country.
