Maria de Fátima Mendonça, scholar, essayist, retired Professor of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the University Eduardo Mondlane is the tenth winner of the José Craveirinha Prize for Literature.
The jury attributed this year’s prize to Fátima Mendonça due to her contribution in the development of Mozambican literature through the training of countless professionals, teachers, critics, scholars and essayists of our times, reads the statement sent to O País.
The Prize José Craveirinha Literature was established in 2003 by the HCB (Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric of), in partnership with AEMO (Association of Mozambican Writers).
The Award ceremony is scheduled for November in the village of Songo, Tete, on the occasion of the 9th anniversary celebrations of the reversal of Cahora Bassa’s management to the Mozambican state.
This award honours the poet José Craveirinha, having been former laureates Paulina Chiziane, Armando Artur, Eduardo White, João Paulo Borges Coelho, Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa, Aldino Muianga, Calane da Silva, Lília Momplé and Luis Bernardo Honwana.
