Mozambique: Mob kills man, injures five others accused by ‘healer’ of preventing rainfall

Local residents in Maquival administrative post, Quelimane district, Zambézia province, have killed one person and injured five others, after an alleged traditional healer claimed that they were preventing rain from falling.
Local authorities, in coordination with the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), are now searching for the alleged healer, who has fled justice.
“The healer himself is on the run, we are following up with the police and these two cases have been drawn up to discipline the people who attacked these citizens. We urge the population not to engage in this type of behaviour, because there are clear explanations for […] the failure of rain to fall as expected,” said administrative post head Zaqueu Moçambique.
