Mozambique: Applications for literary residency in Lisbon open from 1 to 28 February
From 1 to 28 February, the Camões Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo is opening applications for a literary residency, to be held in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, from 1 to 31 May, 2025.
This programme is aimed at authors of Mozambican nationality, or who have their official residence in Mozambique, with published works.
The Literary Exchange Programme promoted under the Cooperation Protocol between the Lisbon City Council and Camões Institute for Cooperation and Language through its Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo, selects an author as an incentive to literary creation and a commitment to the internationalisation of culture.
Applications must be submitted by filling out a form, preferably emailed to [email protected], together with the remaining elements of the application referred to in the participation rules, and may not exceed 10MB in total, or by sending the application to 720 Av. Julius Nyerere, Maputo.
The respective Participation Rules, as well as other documents required for applications, can be found on the Camões Portuguese Cultural Centre website: http://camoes-ccpmocambique.co.mz/
The selected writer will have the opportunity to develop a literary creation project, benefiting from a grant worth seven hundred and fifty euros (€750), paid international travel and free accommodation in the city of Lisbon.
During the same period, and under the same conditions, the Municipal Directorate of Culture of the Municipality of Lisbon is accepting applications for a literary residency, to be held in the city of Maputo, Mozambique, from 1 to 31 October 2025.
This programme is aimed at authors of Portuguese nationality with published work; or who have a tax address or who are demonstrably living, studying and/or working in the municipality of Lisbon. In this case, applications must be submitted online, through the artistic residency platform LAAR at laar.cm-lisboa.pt, where the participation rules can also be consulted.
