Mozambican poet and writer Pedro Pereira Lopes is the big winner of the Imprensa Nacional/Vasco Graça Moura Prize in Portugal.
According to the publication of the National Press of Portugal, Pereira Lopes distinguished himself with ‘Tratado das Coisas Sensíveis’ [Treatise on Sensitive Things], in a competition that also awarded an honourable mention to A Vocação Nómada das Cidades, by André Craveiro.
According to the author himself, ‘Tratado das Coisas Sensíveis’ is an original piece of poetry about the intimate things of life, and a book about the cultivation of words.
‘Tratado das Coisas Sensíveis’ has no date yet set for its launch in Mozambique.
Pedro Pereira Lopes dedicated the award to Fernanda Angius, a former Teaching Fellow of the Camões Institute at the Maputo Pedagogical University from 1990 to 1997, who passed away in January, 2021. “I dedicate the award to Fernanda Angius, my friend and mentor, who would be very happy with this award,” wrote Pereira Lopes.
