In Maputo Province, the Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Libombos, Dom Dinis Sengulane, emphasised the importance of practising repentance, gratitude, and commitment as fundamental elements for maintaining peace in the country.
Dom Dinis Sengulane highlighted a concerning trend in society’s moral decline in recent days, marked by growing hatred among individuals, a lack of forgiveness, and discord.
Speaking on the occasion of World Peace Day, which coincides with the New Year celebrations for 2025, the bishop stressed the need for reconciliation and unity:
“We must be attentive and learn to forgive one another, collaborating with all men, women, children, the elderly, and institutions of goodwill, which exist in great numbers,” he stated.
In the city of Matola, the New Year’s Eve transition was characterised by intense activity in the streets and among families.
