The National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) in Nampula is ramping up inspections of commercial establishments and informal markets to prevent the sale of pyrotechnic items during the festive season.
Silvano Alexandre, INAE’s delegate in Nampula, stated that following the announced ban on the sale of pyrotechnic items, the sector has been coordinating efforts with the Mozambique Police (PRM) and the Municipal authorities to intensify inspections in markets and other locations where these items may be sold.
INAE has declared zero tolerance for the display and sale of pyrotechnic items in Nampula and warned that measures will be taken against violators. It is worth noting that the Mozambique Revenue Authority recently announced a prohibition on the importation, sale, and handling of pyrotechnic and firework items during the 2024/2025 festive season.
According to the institution’s statement, the measure, already in effect, aims to protect public health due to the risks associated with the use of these products.
