Mozambique’s National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) warns that a low pressure system formed last Thursday (5) in the southwest Indian Ocean has evolved into the category of moderate tropical storm, called ‘Chido’.
According to INAM projections, this system may continue to intensify, and may enter the continental region of Madagascar as a tropical cyclone on Friday (13-12).
Senior Meteorologist at AccuWeather Jason Nichollls reports that a level four tropical depression has formed east of Agaléga and will become Moderate Tropical Storm Chido by midweek, and could hit northern Madagascar later this week.
System may bring rain to northern Mozambique this weekend or early next week, Nicholls adds.
