The National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) in Nampula province is visiting traders to forestall price speculation and the sale of expired products in the wake of the violent demonstrations in the country.
Ten teams comprising technicians from the Provincial Directorate of Industry and Commerce, Provincial Services for Economic Activities and the municipalities are checking prices in commercial establishments and informal markets in the province.
Interim delegate of the INAE in Nampula, Silvano Alexandre, indicated that monitoring would focus mainly on basic food products, warning that administrative measures would be taken against anyone who speculated on prices or sold expired products during the period of demonstrations.
According to the INAE Delegate in Nampula, the situation is under control, for now, with no complaints or claims about price speculation and out-of-date product sales.
