Mozambique: Security forces disperse protesters shouting 'Mondlane'

Members of opposition parties met in Matola yesterday (28 October) to draw up the joint declaration calling for the formation of a government of national unity (GNU). The idea is to unite the opposition in a single front to oppose the results of the most fraudulent elections since 1999. Renamo has agreed to be part of the group and Venâncio Mondlane has supported the idea. The GNU proposal was first put forward by the Catholic Bishops, in their latest Pastoral Letter. A statement is expected shortly.
