At least 100,000 households in the Alto Maé, Chamanculo, Laulane and Maxaquene neighbourhoods in Maputo city will have limited access to water today and tomorrow .
The suspension of the supply is due to requalification and improvement work at the electricity transformer that powers the Chamanculo distribution centre, Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo (AdRMM company) has announced.
AdRMM communications and marketing director Azael Moiana said that the interventions would affect the distribution of water to customers supplied by the Chamanculo centre.
“We are bringing forward the interruption in water distribution. Supply will be interrupted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for preventive and corrective maintenance by Electricidade de Moçambique,” he said.
Moiana said that normal water supply would resume on Sunday.
“We urge those customers affected to use water rationally and save as much as possible, as supply will be interrupted during the day. It is important to store water in suitable containers for use while the interruption lasts,” Moiana said.
