Mozambique Elections: Trail of destruction in the nation's capital

Daniel Chapo and the Frelimo party won the 7th presidential and legislative elections and the 4th elections for members of the Provincial Assembly of Tete, with almost double the votes obtained in 2029 d by the “comrades”.
The results announced this Monday (14) by the Tete Provincial Elections Commission place Daniel Chapo as the most voted-for candidate for the Ponta Vermelha, with 733,281 of the 922,956 votes cast in the ballot boxes, almost double the 476,113 obtained by Filipe Nyusi five years ago. The second most voted candidate was Venâncio Mondlane, with 10.84 percent of the votes, followed by Ossufo Momade with 2.91 percent and Lutero Simango with 1.83 percent.
The Frelimo party is expected to secure a large proportion of the 23 seats that Tete province elects to the Assembly of the Republic thanks to the 721,099 votes it obtained, also almost double the number of votes it obtained in 2019. The 6.11 percent obtained by the Podemos party could give it a parliamentary mandate, while Renamo, with 4.42 percent, is expected to lose the four deputies it had previously elected.
Domingos Viola is expected to be re-elected governor of Tete Province thanks to the 88.66 percent of the votes obtained by the “comrades” in the election for members of the Provincial Assembly. The Renamo party received 6.54 percent of the votes and the MDM 4.80 percent.
