Mozambique: Ngonwanine population recovers lands usurped by Xai-Xai residents

A criminal gang shot dead two policemen in a shoot-out in the Hulene “B” neighbourhood on the outskirts of the Mozambican capital in the early hours of Tuesday 30 August.
It is the second such incident in a week that has left three policemen dead.
The victims, whose identities have not yet been disclosed, were working for the Protection Police assigned to the Police Department in Maputo, and were killed near the Hulene refuse dump.
Spokesman for the General Police Command Inacio Dina told the media that his colleagues were on their way to the neighbourhood, where their presence had been requested. While in transit, they encountered a group of suspected robbers who opened fire on the police officers, who were travelling in a marked vehicle.
The deceased were shot dead when they returned fire. Of the four attackers, one was apprehended, but the rest are still at large.
Questioned by @Verdade as to any known motive, the PRM spokesman said that criminals just wanted to make an easy living and that morning were out in search of more victims.
Another group of suspected robbers still at large shot dead a policemen and seriously injured his colleague in Nampula city on the night of Monday 22 August, causing slight injuries to a civilian.
The case occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in the Rua das Flores on the day that Nampula celebrated the 60th anniversary of its elevation to city status. The perpetrators are still being sought.
