Mozambique: 20 traffic lights damaged in Maputo Municipality

Elephants have killed a 60-year-old woman in the village of Chimbia, Machaze district in Manica province.
The victim was surprised by the elephants at dawn, while in the company of her two grandchildren, both of whom managed to escape.
This is the second person killed in an elephant attack in Machaze district.
“It is very frequent that elephants go attack families because if they chase the elephants away here in Machze they end up going to Mossurize. It, in Mossurize, they chase away the elephants they end up coming here”.
“We have cases of crops destroyed. We are talking about 4.2 hectares in the lows of the Buzi RIver”.
Technicians from the Provincial Environment Direction are currently working to chase away the herd of elephants responsible for the fatality.
